The Indianapolis Colts have placed star running back Jonathan Taylor on IR, ending his season, the team announced on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old played just two snaps in the Colts' loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. He sustained a high-ankle sprain during the game and was forced to leave.
He had already missed three games this season due to an injury to the same ankle.
The 2021-22 all-pro has rushed for 861 yards on 192 attempts with four touchdowns this season and has caught 28 passes for 143 yards.
In his all-pro season, Taylor ran for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns on 332 carries and was named to the Pro Bowl, finishing second in offensive player of the year voting.
Indianapolis holds a 4-9-1 record, sitting in third place in the AFC South and is set to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, Dec. 26.
