Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor will open training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list while he works his way back from an ankle injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Taylor missed the Colts' off-season program after having surgery on his right ankle in January.
In July, owner Jim Irsay told The Pat McAfee Show that Taylor's ankle was "healed up," but Tuesday's move indicates he will slowly be integrated back into the offence with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Taylor, 24, is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Injuries limited him to just 11 games last season, but in 2022 Taylor was the NFL's rushing leader with 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns.
