If losing to the 1-8 New York Giants wasn't bad enough, the Washington Commanders were unable to wash the stench of the bad loss off after the game — literally.
After what the team called an "equipment failure," the hot water in both the locker rooms at FedEx Field was shut off and both teams were only able to have a cold shower following the 31-19 win for the now 2-8 Giants.
"We had an equipment failure in the main water heater that provides hot water to the field level locker rooms," the Commanders said in a statement. "We can't resolve the matter without completely shutting off the water to the stadium, which is why it couldn't be repaired in game."
ESPN reporter Jordan Raanen reported that Giants players were "not ecstatic" about the lack of hot water.
However, Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito seemed happy enough with the win and didn't seem to be bothered by the water issue.
"Pfft - have you seen my hair?" DeVito said to reporters after the game.
The Commanders fell to 4-7 after the loss.
