Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher will officially get a shot at redemption on Sunday.
The team opted not to activate recently signed kicker Tristan Vizcaino from its practice squad, leaving Maher as the lone active kicker for their Divisional Round matchup versus the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Maher was the talk of the football world on Monday, after he missed four straight extra points in the Cowboys' wild-card win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former CFLer became the first kicker in NFL history to miss four in a single game.
The Cowboys signed Vizcaino earlier in the week as some added insurance, but head coach Mike McCarthy said the plan was to "forge ahead" with Maher as their kicker.
Maher and the rest of the Cowboys will need to be on top of their game if they hope to snap the red-hot 49ers' 11-game win streak and advance to the NFC Championship.
