If the Miami Dolphins plan to make the playoffs, they likely will need their backup quarterback to win another game.
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told reporters on Wednesday that the team is preparing to start Tyler (Snoop) Huntley at quarterback for Sunday's finale on the road against the New York Jets.
Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who missed last Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns with a hip injury, will practise on a limited basis, McDaniel said.
The Dolphins (8-8) need to beat the Jets and have the Denver Broncos lose to the Kansas City Chiefs to make the playoffs for a third year in a row.
Tagovailoa also missed four games earlier this season with a concussion.
Huntley, signed by the Dolphins earlier this season off the Baltimore Ravens practice roster, is 2-2 as a starter this year.
He is 5-8 for his career as a starter.
