The Miami Dolphins have ruled out wide receiver Jaylen Waddle with an ankle sprain for their matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, as announced by the team on Friday.
Waddle had played in all but one game for the Dolphins this season prior to suffering the ankle injury during their win against the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve. He made just one catch for 50 yards in the victory before getting hurt.
The 25-year-old has been QB Tua Tagovailoa's second favourite target behind Tyreek Hill. Waddle has been targetted 104 times, racking up 72 receptions for 1014 yards and four touchdowns.
Miami's offence this season has been predicated on their dominant passing game, largely thanks to the speedy duo of Waddle and Hill. The Dolphins currently lead the league in passing yards (4288), points per game (30.9), and completion percentage (70.7), and are tied for the second most passing touchdowns (27).
Despite being 11-4 and second place in the AFC, they face a tough task on Sunday as they take on the AFC-leading 12-3 Ravens. Now, without their second-biggest receiving threat.
