One day after closing their facilities due to a positive COVID-19 test within the organization, the Atlanta Falcons will be back at practice on Friday.
“The Atlanta Falcons have resumed in-person work at IBM Performance Facility under the NFL’s supplemental intensive protocols,” a team statement reads.
On Thursday, the team conducted all work virtually after one positive COVID-19 test was recorded. The team did not say whether the test was among the players or staff. Earlier in the week, defensive tackle Marlon Davidson was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list but the team has indicated it was a separate positive result that led to Thursday’s closure.
“This decision was made in consultation with the NFL and medical officials,” the team said in a statement Thursday. “The health and safety of our team is our highest priority.”
The New England Patriots and Tennesse Titans have had to make schedule changes as a result of COVID-19 outbreaks within the team. On Friday, the Indianapolis Colts were the latest to experience an outbreak when the club announced “several” members had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Sunday’s game between the Falcons and Vikings is expected to be played. It’s unclear for now whether the Colts will be able to host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
