It is fantasy football playoffs time and congratulations to all those who are post-season bound! If you’re on the outside looking in, don’t worry, there’s still plenty of daily fantasy NFL contests to enter and win!
Below are some widely available waiver wire addition possibilities, DFS value picks, and top defences to stream. As always, send me any of your fantasy questions on Twitter @AndyMc81 using #AskAndy.
Braxton Berrios, WR, Jets
Yahoo! Ownership: 0%
Draft Kings salary: $3,200
Join me and pour some fresh milk on a big bowl of Berrios! If you listened to “The Fantasy Show” this past Sunday morning on Sportsnet radio, you would’ve heard me select Braxton Berrios as my ‘Danger Zone’ pick to have fantasy success this weekend. On a bad Jets squad, the 5-foot-9 North Carolina native took advantage of a depleted receiving corps. Inhaling six of his 10 targets and leading the NFL in yards per kick return, he immediately became the quick pass safety blanket for rookie QB Zach Wilson. In leagues that count kick/punt return yards, Berrios special teams abilities give him a ton of extra value as well. I always say, “opportunity equals success in fantasy football,” and in his case the lack of weapons makes him a nice desperation Flex option in PPR or cheap contrarian DFS play.
Other WR options to consider: Russell Gage (Falcons, 52% rostered), Amon-Ra St. Brown (Lions, 12% rostered)
Taysom Hill, QB, Saints
Yahoo! Ownership: 50%
Draft Kings salary: N/A
The fantasy quarterback I love to hate has snuck into my waiver wire article. The touchdown-vulturing Hill is by far the best replacement signal-caller available if you’re in need. Hill is essentially Tim Tebow without the cool pose or arm strength – a running back with a different position designation. However, his leg talent is undeniable for fantasy managers as the veteran gadget man has tallied over 26 fantasy points in consecutive matchups as the Saints starter. Facing the high scoring defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers on Sunday night, New Orleans will likely be forced into a shootout. That is great news if you intend to play Hill, who one way or another, will help your point total.
Other QB options to consider: Jimmy Garoppolo (49ers, 30% rostered), Carson Wentz (Colts, 53% rostered)
Rashaad Penny, RB, Seahawks
Yahoo! Ownership: 21%
Draft Kings salary: $5,400
The Seahawks horrible offensive slump may be in the rearview mirror following back-to-back 30-point efforts that resulted in wins. Their backfield has been a mess for a while now, but perhaps the often injured Rashaad Penny can finally create some separation. Penny delivered a career best 127 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns against the dysfunctional Houston Texans. Alex Collins looked flat, Chris Carson is done for the season, while Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas are sporadically used as change of pace pieces. By default Penny becomes an upper tier RB2 play for the first week of the fantasy playoffs versus the top-10 Rams run defence. I would confidently start him over the likes of Chuba Hubbard, Jeff Wison Jr., Ty Johnson, Dontrell Hilliard and Mike Davis.
Other RB options to consider: Craig Reynolds (Lions, 1% rostered), D’Ernest Johnson (Browns, 13% rostered)
Top defences to stream for Week 15:
● Buffalo Bills (vs. Carolina Panthers)
● Arizona Cardinals (at Detroit Lions)
● Miami Dolphins (vs. New York Jets)
● Dallas Cowboys (at New York Giants)
● San Francisco 49ers (vs. Atlanta Falcons)
