We made it everyone – fantasy football championship weekend! Congratulations to whoever’s fighting for a title and to those battling it out for the best finish possible. This was without a doubt the most challenging and unpredictable year in NFL fantasy history and we all made it.
Don’t forget that this Week 16 slate has games on Friday (Christmas Day), Saturday, Sunday, and Monday so set those lineups! Happy Holidays, and as always, ask me any fantasy questions on Twitter @AndyMc81 using #AskAndy
Tony Pollard, RB, Cowboys
Yahoo! League Ownership – 46 per cent
If you were a fantasy owner disciplined enough to hold onto Tony Pollard as Ezekiel Elliott’s handcuff all season then your patience finally paid off! Filling in for an injured Zeke, Pollard exploded for two rushing touchdowns and caught six passes for 132-yards from scrimmage in the win against San Francisco. In fact, that rush total was the most of any Cowboys running back in a single game this year.
Track Elliott’s health throughout the week, but be proactive and grab the sophomore for this upcoming smash spot versus the Eagles. Philadelphia ranks 24th in run defence and Pollard’s pass-catching abilities make him extra appealing in PPR formats.
Jalen Hurts, QB, Eagles
Yahoo! League Ownership – 40 per cent
Hopefully, you listened to my advice on grabbing Jalen Hurts prior to Week 14 and have been enjoying his fantasy outburst. If not, there’s still time as he’s available in 60 per cent of most leagues with a beautiful matchup on tap.
Hurts was sensational in his second career start by tossing three touchdowns, running in another, and finishing with a 102.3-quarterback rating. That was against Arizona, and now the rookie gets a Cowboys defence that is allowing the ninth most yards-per-game in the NFL. Coach Doug Pederson already confirmed Hurts as the Eagles starter for Sunday. I’d have no hesitation slotting him in as my QB-1 or in any DFS contest.
Rashard Higgins, WR, Browns
Yahoo! League Ownership – 25 per cent
A tried, tested, and true strategy in 2020 is to follow the Jets and slide in players on the opposite side. When you add in a red hot Cleveland Browns offense then that idea sounds extra appealing.
Despite his flashy nickname “Hollywood”, Rashard Higgins often gets overlooked in the fantasy world as the spotlight has shone on other Cleveland stars like Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, and Baker Mayfield.
The fifth-year pro’s become more consistent over the Browns past three outings as a high volume No.2 receiver option. 16-receptions on 24-targets, two touchdowns, and average fantasy point production of 17.3 during that stretch would make a good looking WR-3/Flex. Especially when “Hollywood” will be facing New York’s fourth-worst passing ‘D’.
Also, think about employing a Mayfield/Higgins/Defense triple stack into any Draft Kings lineups.
Arizona Cardinals, Defence
Yahoo! League Ownership – 34 per cent
Injuries and COVID issues throughout the season have turned the 49ers offence into an inconsistent patchwork group. They’ve scored 24 or fewer points in five of their last six and are second in total giveaways. Even the Dallas Cowboys swiss cheese defence just posted 15.0 points on them!
The Cardinals DST isn’t perfect, but they’ve been racking up sacks (14) and fumble recoveries (3) over the previous two games. That’s converted into 18.0 and 10.0-FTPs respectively. Arizona is definitely one of the best streaming choices for Week 16.
