Taylor Swift and pals Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were welcomed to New York as the two arrived for the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets, presumably to watch Swift's reported new lover Travis Kelce as he takes the field.
It's a scene we're beginning to know all too well.
Kelce and Swift (not to be fooled with the Philadelphia Eagles duo) first made headlines last Sunday as their love story seemingly went public, Swift side-by-side with Donna Kelce as they watched the Chiefs take down the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium.
This Sunday, much like last week, with the eyes of Sunday Night Football and Swifties on Met Life Stadium, the Chiefs were ready for it, as they took a nail-biting 23-20 victory over the Jets -- something Donna Kelce, Taylor Swift and their entourage have reason to celebrate.
Call the spectacle what you want, but it can't be denied that Swift's impact on the game has been tangible. NFL.com reported that Kelce's jersey sales have increased nearly 400 per cent since last Sunday -- far from going out of style. More importantly, she's been growing the game to a market that has been exiled for so long.
Kelce and his brother, centre for the Eagles Jason Kelce, hosted a Q&A on their podcast New Heights answering football questions from Swifties -- the name affectionately given to Swift fans -- prefacing the segment by acknowledging how many people are just now entering their 'football era'.
For both Swifties and Chiefs fans, likely never in their wildest dreams did they imagine this crossover event would take place, but it just might be a surprising way to grow the game.
