New York Giants linebacker Ryan Anderson has been suspended for the first six games of the NFL season for violating the league’s performance enhancing substances policy, the team announced Saturday.
Anderson, who will still be eligible to participate in the Giants’ final pre-season game on Sunday, will not be paid for the duration of the suspension. The earliest he will be eligible to return to the Giants’ active roster is Oct. 18.
Neither the league nor the team immediately gave details on the substance Anderson used that led to the violation.
A second-round pick by the Washington Football Team in 2017, Anderson signed a one-year deal with the Giants in March. The 27-year-old appeared in nine games for Washington last season, recording nine tackles and no sacks.
