The Jacksonville Jaguars could be waiting until kickoff on Sunday to find out if their franchise quarterback will be active for their must-win game against the Titans.
Head coach Doug Pederson provided an injury update on franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence, stating that it may be "all the way up to game time" until they find out if he'll be available on Sunday.
"He's been plugged in and engaged all week mentally, so now it's just the physical part," Pederson told reporters at a press conference. "If he's good to go, he's good to go ... he'll try to do everything he can to protect himself, but at the same time, if he's out there, he's rolling."
Lawrence had returned to practice earlier this week after missing the first game of his career in Week 17 with a shoulder injury. He was set to practice last week, but suffered a setback that ultimately ruled him out of the game.
Lawrence has been marred with injuries in the back half of the season, picking up a new injury on his left hand on Wednesday. Despite this, it's likely Lawrence will push to play on Sunday with the Jaguars' playoff berth up for grabs.
Jacksonville also is looking to get health in another crucial area, as it officially activated wideout Christian Kirk off the injury reserve on Wednesday. Kirk has been out of action since suffering and undergoing surgery for a core muscle injury in Week 13.
Pederson said he expects his availability to also push the 1 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday.
The Jaguars (9-7) are in control of their own destiny for the 2024 NFL Playoffs. If they defeat the Titans on Sunday, they win their division and punch their ticket.
If they lose, their playoff percentage drops below 30 per cent and they'll be scoreboard watching for a Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and a Denver Broncos loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
This all, of course, hinges on if the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, who are also deadlocked at 9-7 in the division race and face off in primetime on Saturday night, doesn't end in a tie.
If it does, the Jaguars will be eliminated with a loss.
Sunday will mark the first time the Jacksonville Jaguars can clinch a playoff spot in back-to-back seasons since 1999.
