Julio Jones is making it clear that his days with the Atlanta Falcons appear to be numbered.
Speaking to Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless on FS1’s Undisputed, the Pro Bowl receiver said he wants out of Atlanta.
“I’m out of there, man,” he told Sharpe and Bayless, saying his priority is to join a winning team. It’s unclear whether Jones knew he was live on air when Sharpe called him on his phone during a segment.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Jones did request a trade from the Falcons and the team agreed to listen to offers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Atlanta is looking for a first-round draft pick in return for the 32-year-old receiver.
After being seen wearing a Dallas Cowboys hoodie, Jones said that he never considered them as a potential trade destination.
“I ain’t going to Dallas. Man, I never thought on going to Dallas,” Jones told Sharpe.
Jones is guaranteed a $15.3 million salary this season which the Falcons could save by releasing or trading the star receiver. NFL Network’s Michael Giardi reported that the New England Patriots had internal discussions about trading for the receiver.
He missed seven games in 2020 because of injuries finishing with 51 receptions for 771 yards and three touchdowns. Since being selected as the sixth overall pick from the 2011 NFL Draft, the Alabama native has 848 receptions for 12,896 yards and 60 touchdowns.
