Daniel Jones is joining a contender.
The Minnesota Vikings confirmed that they signed the sixth-year quarterback on Tuesday ahead of their Wild Card Round matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.
Jones passed for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions with the New York Giants this season. He was waived in late November shortly after he was benched in favour of Tommy DeVito.
The 27-year-old spent his first six NFL seasons with the Giants, and started in all but one of his appearances with the team.
In a corresponding roster move the Vikings waived quarterback Brett Rypien.
According to a report from Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Star Tribune, the Vikings have added Jones to the active roster, putting them in line to receive a compensatory pick if he leaves in free agency in the upcoming off-season.
