You can add Tyquan Thornton's name to the list of early-round draft misses for the New England Patriots.
The 2022 second-round pick was released Saturday morning, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Thornton skyrocketed up draft boards due to his blazing speed, running a 4.28-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, but the University of Baylor product has struggled to find his footing early on in his career.
He has 39 catches for 385 yards and two touchdowns across 28 games for the Patriots, but only four catches and 47 yards this season.
The speedster joins N'keal Harry, Mac Jones, Josh Uche, Joejuan Williams, Sony Michel, Isaiah Wynn and Duke Dawson as players drafted by the Patriots within the top two rounds since 2018 that no longer remain with the organization.
