Monday always is a busy day for NFL injury news — and the first Sunday of the year saw quite a few key players go down.
Here's the latest on some of the big names.
Pittsburgh Steelers
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says Steelers star linebacker T.J. Watt is going for an MRI on Monday after suffering a pectoral injury late in an overtime win on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Rapoport doesn't expect more news until Tuesday.
"Watt and the Steelers are still trying to figure out does he need surgery, which would knock him out until at least the end of the season, or can he rehab and return in a couple of weeks. Both of those options are on the table," Rapoport said.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that if Watt doesn't need surgery, he's expected to miss six weeks. The reigning defensive player of the year is getting second and third opinions on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Steelers running back Najee Harris is going for more tests after being knocked out with a a foot injury.
Rapoport said it's likely related to a Lisfranc sprain he had in camp.
"As of right now, it is not believed to be major. That is the general feeling," he said.
Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is undergoing thumb surgery Monday after being hurt in Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
ESPN's Todd Archer reports Prescott will be out 6-8 weeks.
Rapoport said it's a stretch that Prescott will be able to return before November.
The Cowboys do have a bye the first week of November, meaning Nov. 13 vs. Green Bay could be a target.
Cooper Rush becomes the Cowboys' starter in Prescott's absence.
Meanwhile, Archer says safety Jayron Kearse figures to miss 2-4 weeks with a sprained MCL in his left knee.
And Cowboys chief operating offer Stephen Jones told a Dallas radio station that guard Connor McGovern could miss a couple of weeks with a high ankle sprain.
New England Patriots
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports X-Rays were negative on Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, who is believed to have been suffering back spasms in Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins.
There is a chance Jones plays next Sunday against Pittsburgh.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin suffered a hamstring strain in Dallas and could miss a few weeks, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.
Godwin tore his ACL last December, but his knee is believed to be fine after the latest injury.
Washington Commanders
Commanders defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis will undergo season-ending surgery after suffering a torn meniscus on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Rapoport reports.
The Alabama product was picked in the second round (47th overall) of this year's NFL Draft by the Commanders.
Green Bay Packers
Packers linebacker Krys Barnes is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain and calf injury in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Pelissero reports.
He'll be week-to-week.
Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals long snapper Clark Harris will be out for weeks with a torn biceps, Pelissero reports.
The Bengals had two bad snaps on a potential winning convert in regulation time and on a field goal in overtime after Harris' injury.
Cal Adomitis is being signed from the practice squad to take Harris' place, Pelissero says.
Los Angeles Chargers
Chargers star receiver Keenan Allen is going for an MRI after injuring a hamstring in a win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Rapoport reports.
With the Chargers next playing Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs, there is a good chance Allen will be out for Week 2.
Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders cornerback Anthony Averett will have surgery after breaking his right thumb on Sunday vs. the Chargers, Rapoport reports.
He's expected to miss at least a month.
San Francisco 49ers
49ers running back Eli Mitchell is expected to miss two months with a sprained MCL, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Mitchell had six runs for 41 yards before the injury in a rainy loss to the Bears Sunday. His loss is further compounded by the fact tight end George Kittle continues to work his way back from a training-camp groin injury.
Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett suffered a season-ending torn ACL in a win over Detroit on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Baltimore Ravens
Ravens cornerback Kyle Fuller suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Sunday's win over the New York Jets, the team announced.
The time-time Pro Bowler and Baltimore native signed with his hometown team this season.
