The Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday afternoon that quarterback Sam Darnold will make his season debut this weekend against the Denver Broncos.
The 2018 third-overall pick started the 2022 season on injured reserve and was activated on Nov. 7.
Baker Mayfield and P.J. Walker have handled the duties under centre for Carolina — who sits in fourth place of the NFC South with a 3-8 record.
The Panthers acquired Darnold for the 2021 season where he would make 11 starts, throwing for 2527 yards, nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Mayfield started his sixth game of the season for Carolina last week and struggled in a 13-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, throwing two interceptions.
Walker had started the previous five games before being ruled out against the Ravens with a high ankle sprain.
