All eyes will be on the quarterbacks when the Los Angeles Rams battle the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend as 4-point favourites on the Super Bowl 56 odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The attention of sports bettors has been captured by an array of props bets focused on the on-field performances of pivots Matthew Stafford and Joe Burrow for Sunday’s matchup at SoFi Stadium.
Burrow joined the ranks of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks while throwing for 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns and leading Cincinnati to the top of the AFC North standings this past season. Burrow has also tallied 842 passing yards and four scores in three playoff appearances, and is listed as a -114 wager to throw for OVER 276.5 yards on Super Sunday. The 25-year-old has also connected on 12 scoring passes over his past five games, and is listed as a short -167 wager to complete OVER 1.5 touchdown passes in Sunday’s big game.
Stafford, meanwhile, has impressed in his first season in Los Angeles. The 34-year-old matched a career-high with 41 touchdown passes during the regular season to go along with 4,886 passing yards. Stafford has also recorded six touchdown passes and a pair of scoring runs so far in playoff action, and sports +196 odds of throwing for at least three touchdowns on Sunday.
And after averaging 351.5 passing yards in his past two outings, Stafford is set as a -114 wager to compile OVER 280.5 passing yards. He is also a -135 favourite to rack up more passing yards than Burrow in Sunday’s clash.
Elsewhere on the props board for Sunday, the Super Bowl coin toss will once again attract plenty of interest. Of course, due to the 50/50 nature of a coin toss, both heads and tails sport -105 odds. However, tails hold the historical edge, turning up in 29 of the 55 previous editions of the Super Bowl. And while the odds of the team that wins the coin toss going on to win the Super Bowl are also set at -105, the team losing the toss has marched to victory in each of the past seven years.
Super Bowl prop betting action for the weekend also includes wagering on the traditional Gatorade shower. Orange is favoured to be the colour of the Gatorade used to drench this year’s Super Bowl-winning coach with +130 odds, just ahead of clear/water at +175. Orange has been the colour of choice in five of the past 12 years, and fits with Cincinnati’s team colours. However, a Rams victory could be marked by a blue Gatorade shower, which would pay out on +600 odds on Sunday.
