The Las Vegas Raiders will require all fans at Allegiant Stadium to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, allowing them to attend games without wearing a mask, starting with their regular-season home opener on Sept. 13, the team announced Monday.
“Health and safety has always been our No. 1 priority,” said Raiders owner Mark Davis in a press release.
“After consultation with (Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak) and other community leaders, this policy ensures that we will be able to operate at full capacity without masks for fully vaccinated fans for the entire season.”
The team says it is the first NFL club to adopt a vaccine/no mask policy. Earlier this month, the New Orleans Saints announced the Superdome would be open at full capacity, but only to fans who provide proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to home games, and who wear masks.
The Raiders will also offer fans the chance to receive vaccinations at Allegiant Stadium prior to home games and permit newly dosed attendees to enter the stadium wearing a mask.
The Raiders host the Baltimore Ravens to kick off their 2021 campaign.
