Puka Nacua's Sunday ended early after throwing a punch in a big division game.
The Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver was disqualified late in the first half of a pivotal game against the rival Seattle Seahawks.
The play occurred with 27 seconds remaining in the second quarter. After Matthew Stafford was intercepted by Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen, Nacua got tangled up with Seattle cornerback Coby Bryant. As Woolen ran the ball down the field, Nacua threw a punch toward Bryant and was flagged for unnecessary roughness. The penalty added 15 yards to the end of the play for Seattle and the Seahawks managed to score a touchdown to go up 13-3 before the end of the half.
Nacua, the reigning rookie of the year, was playing in just his third game of the season due to a knee injury.
The NFC West standings are tight with the Cardinals, 49ers and Seahawks all tied at 4-4 and the Rams trailing close behind at 3-4.
