Ravens place Lamar Jackson, three others on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Baltimore Ravens placed quarterback Lamar Jackson and three others on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, the team announced.

Jackson, the NFL’s reigning MVP, is the highest-profile NFL player to land on the list so far this season.

Fullback Patrick Ricard, defensive tackle Justin Madubuike and long snapper Morgan Cox were the other players placed on the list. Baltimore has now seen 12 players and multiple staff members land on the list this week.

The Ravens also said Wednesday they had disciplined a staff member, reportedly a strength coach, for not obeying league protocols.

Players who test positive for COVID-19 are required to quarantine for a minimum of 10 days as long as they test negative. Players who are deemed high-risk close contacts have to sit out for at least five days.

Backup quarterback Robert Griffin III would be the most likely candidate to start for Baltimore in place of Jackson. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 draft, Griffin has made only one start in the past four seasons.

Sunday’s Week 12 matchup between the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, which was originally slated to take place on Thanksgiving Day, has been moved again to Tuesday as a result of the outbreak.
