The Baltimore Ravens have been fined $250,000 by the NFL for the team’s role in the COVID-19 outbreak that devastated its roster, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The punishment reportedly does not include any loss of draft picks.
The notable penalty matches the fine the New England Patriots received, Rapoport reports, but comes at a lower price tag than the Tennessee Titans’ $350,000 fine back in October.
Over a span of 10 days, the Ravens placed almost two dozen players on the COVID-19/reserve list including star quarterback Lamar Jackson. The outbreak caused the Ravens to postpone their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12 several times before it was finally played on Dec. 2.
Team president Dick Cass announced earlier this month that four unique strains of COVID-19 were found in the Ravens’ facility.
