Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields may be sidelined for next Sunday’s game against the New York Jets due to a left shoulder dislocation, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport also reported that Eberflus did not rule out the possibility of it being a season-ending injury for the young QB.
Fields was carted off the field after losing 27-24 to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday and received X-rays after the game. Head coach Matt Eberflus spoke to the media on Monday saying that he is currently “day-to-day.”
The second-year QB has been on a solid run as of late, throwing for 160 yards per game and adding 106 yards on the ground on average in his last six games. He broke the record for most rushing yards by a QB in the regular season with 178 yards in a loss to the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 6.
The Bears are currently last in the NFC North with a record of 3-8 and are on a four-game losing streak. They’re set to take on the New York Jets next Sunday with questions about opposing QB Zach Wilson’s job also floating in the air.
If Fields does end up being unavailable, Chicago will have to turn to Trevor Siemian.
