The Indianapolis Colts could be without another receiver for a few games.
Keenan Allen is facing a minimum three-game suspension by the NFL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, after he was formally charged with two misdemeanours in an alleged drunk-driving incident.
Allen could face a longer ban depending on his intoxication level, per Schefter. He allegedly blew a .224 blood-alcohol level, which is three times the legal limit.
The six-time Pro Bowler was formally charged Tuesday with operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He posted a $500 cash bond, and his attorneys waived an initial hearing that had been scheduled for Wednesday. An attorney conference is set for Oct. 26.
The 34-year-old signed with the Colts for his 14th season after spending 12 of the previous 13 years with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Allen led the Colts with six receptions but only registered 32 yards in their season-opening loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
