San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be sidelined a minimum of six weeks, possibly longer if surgery is needed, due to a persistent high ankle sprain, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Garoppolo has been bothered by the injury since Week 2 and the 49ers are hoping that some rest will give him more time to heal. Nick Mullens took over for Garoppolo during their week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
In six games this season, the 29-year-old has completed 67.1 per cent of his passes for 1,096 yards and seven touchdowns while throwing five interceptions.
