Winston joined the Saints on a one-year, $1.1 million contract last spring and threw a total of 11 passes during the 2020 season, including a 56-yard touchdown on a trick play in the playoffs. The former first overall pick from 2015 spent his first five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, throwing for 19,737 yards, 121 touchdowns and 88 interceptions.
The deal comes a day after longtime Saints quarterback Drew Brees announced his retirement after 20 seasons. The team also signed quarterback Taysom Hill to a voidable four-year, $140-million extension to create salary-cap savings.
