We might see Aaron Rodgers back in a New York Jets uniform after all.
According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Rodgers is "likely to be medically cleared" to play in the upcoming week.
Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon just four snaps into the Jets' season opener on Sept. 11.
After a miraculous recovery, the Jets opened the 21-day practice window for Rodgers on Nov. 29, when he was cleared for some football activities but not for contact. That window expires on Wednesday when the Jets have to either activate him from injured reserve or Rodgers will be placed on IR for the rest of the season.
Complicating the decision for the Jets is the fact that they are currently on the outside looking in of the AFC playoff picture. At 5-8 and with a tough matchup against the Dolphins on Sunday, the likelihood of the Jets making a playoff push are slim.
Zach Wilson will once again get the start against the Dolphins after his best game of the season in a Week 14 win over the Houston Texans.
Whether Rodgers takes his place the following week remains to be seen.
