The Detroit Lions have locked down another key part of their team for years to come.
Offensive tackle Penei Sewell and the Lions have agreed to terms on a four-year, $112 million extension that includes $85 million guaranteed, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday.
The seventh overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft will now earn an average salary of $28 million, which is $3 million above the previous top of the market, Garafolo notes. Laremy Tunsil earned the top mark of $25 million per season.
Sewell has shown great durability so far in his career missing just one start in his rookie year during his three seasons with the Lions.
