If certain teams get their way, Bill Belichick's UNC tenure could be over before it truly begins.
Multiple NFL franchises have inquired on the long-time New England Patriots coach's desire to reconsider his move to NCAA football, NFL.com's Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday.
Among the teams asking are the Las Vegas Raiders, whose minority owner Tom Brady won six Super Bowls with the Patriots alongside Belichick.
The Raiders fired head coach Antonio Pierce on Tuesday after completing his lone full season with a 4-13 record.
Brady and Belichick have communicated recently, with the former quarterback seeing a need for a veteran, culture-setting coach in Las Vegas, Pelissero added.
Others teams with head-coach openings include the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars and Patriots.
Belichick, 72, signed a five-year deal with North Carolina in December, and has already brought aboard longtime confidant Mike Lombardi as general manager.
Per Pelissero, his contract includes a $10 million buyout if he leaves prior to June 1.
