Aaron Rodgers and Bill Belichick together? It apparently could have happened.
According to Fox Sports, the New England Patriots submitted an offer to the Green Bay Packers for Rodgers earlier this off-season, however, the four-time MVP and his agent nixed the deal.
Instead of playing for the Patriots and their eight-time Super Bowl-winning head coach, Rodgers opted to join one of their AFC East rivals: The Green Bay Packers traded their star quarterback to the New York Jets on April 26.
Rodgers played 15 seasons in Green Bay and guided the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV. The 39-year-old has thrown for 59,055 yards and 475 touchdowns during his legendary career.
“That chapter is over now and I’m excited about the new adventure here in New York,” Rodgers said during his introductory press conference with the Jets.
Rodgers added that he chose New York because "I'm an old guy, so I want to be at a place that can win it all, and I believe we can do that here."
The Jets finished fourth in the AFC East Division last year, one spot behind the Patriots, and missed the playoffs for the 12th consecutive season with a 7-10 record.
