Could a reunion between Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers be in the cards?
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Thursday that Adams wants to play for the New York Jets.
Rapoport added that the All-Pro receiver Las Vegas Raiders is open to playing for other teams and that the team is prioritizing the best deal from the highest bidder.
Adams reportedly told the Raiders he would prefer to be traded with his name appearing in trade rumours.
Rodgers and Adams played together for eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where they established themselves as a dynamic duo.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that along with the Jets, Adams would also be interested in playing for the New Orleans Saints, reuniting him with Derek Carr. Adams played with Carr when he initially joined the Raiders and back in their time together at Fresno State.
In an interview with ESPN's Katherine Terrell on Thursday, Carr said he would love the chance to reunite with Adams.
"I think all 32 quarterbacks would love to play with Davante. We would welcome that," Carr said to Terrell. "I don't know if I can get in trouble for saying that. I just think everyone kind of knows that ... I think everyone would love to play with Tay. I would obviously welcome playing with him again if that ever worked out in our careers."
Unfortunately for the Saints, they do not have as much cap space as the Jets. According to Schefter, New Orleans has roughly $3.265 million in cap space, while New York has over $15.3 million in space.
This makes things tricky for any team looking to make a deal for Adams, who has $13.5 million of his $17.5 million salary still owed until the end of the season. Adams also has two years left on his contract, with $36.25 million owed until 2026, which likely will require Adams to restructure.
Adams has consistently been at the forefront of trade discussions, as the Raiders don't seem to be playoff-bound in 2024. He is also not expected to play on Sunday against the Denver Broncos with a hamstring injury, according to Schefter.
The 31-year-old called the rumours "annoying" on Tuesday's episode of the Up & Adams Show.
"I'm one of those players people like to talk about one way or the other," he later added. "So, thank God that he just blessed me with the ability to just focus in on what I need to focus in on and not get sidetracked by any of the outside noise."
Adams missed the Raiders' Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury, but had totalled 209 yards and one touchdown on 18 receptions through the first three games of the season.
A six-time Pro-Bowler and three-time All-Pro, Adams has posted four straight seasons with over 100 receptions and over 1,000 yards. He has 890 receptions for 10,990 yards and 96 touchdowns in 11 NFL seasons.
