The Seattle Seahawks are keeping one of their top wide receivers as the team and DK Metcalf agreed on a three-year, $72 million contract extension, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Metcalf reported to training camp but was not actively participating due to unresolved contract issues, but Metcalf's agent Tory Dandy and Seahawks general manager John Schneider and executive Matt Thomas finalized the agreement Thursday afternoon.

With the deal, Metcalf becomes one of footballs highest paid receivers, and his $30 million signing bonus is the highest ever for a wide receiver.

Drafted 64th overall in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ole Miss, Metcalf has played three seasons with Seattle tallying 216 receptions for 3170 yards and 29 touchdowns, and was selected to the Pro Bowl during the 2020 season.

News of the Seahawks retaining Metcalf comes after many Seahawks were lost over the past few months, starting with the trade of franchise quarterback Russell Wilson to Denver.

Next came the release of linebacker Bobby Wagner, who has now signed with the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, free agent defensive end Carlos Dunlap signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, and linebacker K.J. Wright and running back Chris Carson both retiring as Seahawks.
