Tim Tebow could be on the NFL comeback trail.
After retiring from baseball in February, the former Denver Broncos first-round pick recently worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars… as a tight end.
And, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, there’s been “at least some discussion” of signing the former NFL quarterback.
Tebow, 33, was a Heisman Trophy-winning signal-caller in college at Florida for Urban Meyer, the current Jaguars head coach. After being selected 25th overall by the Broncos in the 2010 draft, Tebow played 35 career NFL games for Denver and the New York Jets. He was cut by the Jets in April 2013 and spent training camps with both New England in 2013 and Philadelphia in 2015.
In 2016, he made the switch to baseball.
As an outfielder in the New York Mets organization, Tebow played 287 minor-league games over five years with a career .223 average and a double-A all-star nod in 2018 before hanging up his bat.
The Jaguars hold the No. 1 pick in the first round of Thursday’s 2021 NFL Draft and will almost certainly take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville may soon have a new target for their QB of the future, as well.
