The Minnesota Vikings have acquired quarterback Josh Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced Tuesday.
The Vikings will also receive a conditional seventh-round pick in the trade. The Cardinals will receive a sixth-round pick.
The Vikings add a veteran signal caller after starting quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Minnesota improved to 4-4 on the year after the 24-10 win in Week 8 and remain in the hunt for an NFC Wild Card spot.
Dobbs, 28, was traded by the Browns to the Cardinals late in training camp and he has started all eight games for Arizona this season while Kyler Murray recovers from a knee injury. Before the trade, head coach Jonathan Gannon said quarterback Clayton Tune would be making his first NFL start in Week 9 against the Browns but that Murray could return in Week 10.
Dobbs has a 62.8 completion rate and has passed for 1,568 yards this season with eight touchdown passes and five interceptions.
