Justin Jefferson, the NFL's reigning Offensive Player of the Year, is going to be sidelined with a hamstring injury for the next four to six weeks, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter says that Jefferson will undergo imaging tests in a month's time to figure out when the Minnesota Vikings' star wide receiver can return to action.
Jefferson was injured when he slipped while running a route in the fourth quarter of Oct. 8's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, which dropped the Vikings to 1-4 on the season.
The Vikings have since placed Jefferson on the injured reserve, making him ineligible for their next four games.
“We’re going to have to, medically, make a good decision and help almost protect him from himself a little bit in a way, where we have to take care of him and get him back to 100 per cent,” coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday.
Jefferson led the NFL in receptions and yards last season and has 36 catches for 571 yards and three touchdowns in five games this season.
The Vikings won the NFC North last season but have already dug themselves into a big hole. Now without Jefferson until at least November, climbing back up the standings will be much more difficult.
