The 28-year-old has 278 completed passes on 418 attempts throwing for 2931 yards on the season with 19 touchdowns.
With Heinicke’s addition, Washington now has 22 players on the COVID list.
Backup quarterback Kyle Allen was added to the list earlier this week and will need to test negative Friday or Saturday in order to play against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday.
Washington has reportedly signed quarterback Garrett Gilbert from the New England Patriots’ practice squad to bolster the roster.
