The Chicago Bears will make Canadian wide receiver Chase Claypool inactive for the team's Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
The decision comes after the Abbotsford, B.C., native commented on whether he's being put in the best position to succeed by the Bears coaching staff.
Claypool was asked if his skills are being showcased properly which he responded by shaking his head and said no.
He then elaborated on his position amid the team's offensive struggles.
“No, I wouldn’t say that [it isn’t ideal],” he told reporters. “Every situation has the ability to be ideal; we’re just working toward that. I’m not gonna say that. I wouldn’t say that it’s not an ideal place for me.
“Obviously, there’s other places. You can say, ‘Oh, I want to be on the best offence with the highest passing yards,’ but that doesn’t happen in football. You just have to make do with what you’ve got.”
Claypool has just four receptions for 51 yards and one touchdown in three games this season, and he received criticism for his effort in Week 1. He would see an increase in usage and saw an improvement in his production recording a touchdown catch in Week 2.
Last season, Claypool had 46 receptions for 451 yards and a touchdown with the Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers. The 25-year-old played the final seven games in Chicago after being acquired for a second-round pick and had 14 catches for 140 yards in that time.
