The Cleveland Browns have hired former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel to be a coaching and personnel consultant, according to multiple reports.
Vrabel was let go by the Titans two days after the 2023 regular season ended and they finished with a 6-11 record, their lowest win total during his tenure.
Originally hired in January 2018, Vrabel was the Titans head coach for the last six seasons and he led Tennessee to a 56-48 record overall and 2-3 in the postseason.
The 48-year-old’s time as head coach included an AFC championship game appearance in 2019 that sparked three straight playoff runs, and a 12-5 record in 2021 that earned him AP NFL Coach of the Year honours.
Before making his way up through the coaching ranks Vrabel also won three Super Bowls as a player with the Patriots and their now-former head coach Bill Belichick.
Despite the Titans job being his only experience as a head coach, Vrabel was considered by many as a top candidate for head coaching vacancies, which are now all filled.
Tennessee had been in the playoff mix throughout his first five seasons, even with his teams being riddled with injuries the past couple of years. Vrabel’s Titans had to use the most players in the entire league each of the last three seasons due to injuries.
