It appears Tom Brady‘s knee injury wasn’t a minor issue as the star quarterback played the entire 2020 season on a torn MCL, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport.
Tampa Bay Times’s Rick Stroud reported that the 43-year-old initially suffered the injury in his final season with the New England Patriots. Brady knew at some point that he would need to get an operation done on his knee which he had at the end of the season because of the discomfort he felt while playing with the injury.
“It was an injury I dealt with really since last, you know, April, May,” Brady explained at mini camp in June. “I knew I would have to do something at the end of the year and happy I did it and it was probably something that certainly needed to be done and there was a great outcome so I’m very happy about that. I feel like there’s some things I’ll be able to do this year that I wasn’t able to do last year.”
Brady led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs and was named MVP of the game. In his first season with Tampa Bay, he threw for 4,633 yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Brady was able to make a full recovery in time to take the field for minicamp and is expected to be a full participant in training camp.
