Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid have reportedly been fined by the NFL for their reactions to the Kansas City Chiefs' 20-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and others, Reid has been fined $100,000 for "violating long-standing league rules prohibiting public criticism of game officials."
Meanwhile, Mahomes has been fined $50,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct as well as public criticism of refs.
With just over a minute to go in the game's fourth quarter, the Chiefs had their go-ahead, 49-yard touchdown called back after it was determined Kadarius Toney was offside on the play.
The Bills then held on for the win, and the game ended with Mahomes visibly livid at the referees, being held back by teammates as he shouted incessantly.
According to Reid, the Chiefs had expected the officials would give them a warning about a player lining up offside and throw a flag if there was another infraction.
“It’s a bit embarrassing for the National Football League for that to take place,” Reid said post-game.
“Loss for words, man,” Mahomes added. "To end another game and we’re talking about referees, it’s bad for the NFL.”
