The Minnesota Vikings will reportedly be placing star receiver Justin Jefferson on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

The move — which was first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero — would keep Jefferson out of the lineup for a minimum of four games.

However, Pelissero adds that an exact timeline for his return is "TBD."

Jefferson was injured when he slipped while running a route in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

“We’re going to have to, medically, make a good decision and help almost protect him from himself a little bit in a way, where we have to take care of him and get him back to 100 per cent,” coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday.

Jefferson led the NFL in receptions and yards last season and has 36 catches for 571 yards and three touchdowns in five games this season.

The Vikings won the NFC North last season but have already dug themselves into a big hole, going 1-4 to start the year. Now without Jefferson until at least November, climbing back up the standings will be much more difficult.
