Obviously, there’s no bad blood after Taylor Swift missed last week’s Kansas City Chiefs road game against the Minnesota Vikings. Even better, it seems Travis Kelce is out of the woods with the ankle injury as he appeared (Mr.) perfectly fine to begin the game.
The pop star was in attendance Thursday night for a Chiefs home game against the Denver Broncos, sporting Kansas City red, to watch Kelce as their reported love story continues.
Swift first appeared at a Chiefs game in late September against the visiting Chicago Bears, seemingly taking Kelce up on his offer to watch him play. Since then, she’s also attended their road game against the New York Jets.
Whether you believe Swift is a mastermind or the anti-hero of football, the NFL is cashing in on the opportunity, promoting the budding romance on social media.
League spokesman Brian McCarthy made sure to point out that it was in no way “orchestrated by the NFL,” but their relationship — however serious it might be — has nevertheless been good for business.
Though the league’s popularity is nothing new, for some Swift fans, football fandom has been somewhat of an epiphany. Nearly 27 million viewers tuned into the Chiefs’ game against the New York Jets, which NBC Sports reported as their biggest viewership since the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles in last year’s Super Bowl.
While Kelce may be enchanted with Swift’s attendance, it’s clear his performance doesn’t reflect any nerves. The tight end had 109 receiving yards in the first half of the game, which marked the second time in his career he hit that marker in the first half, and the first time since 2016.
Maybe – just maybe – Swift makes him a better man.
At the very least, it seems that she’s got the sparks flying.
