Pittsburgh Steelers fans can take a deep sigh of relief.
After hurting his ankle Sunday against Philedalphia, it appears that star edge rusher T.J. Watt avoided a major injury and will be questionable leading up to Saturday's matchup with the Ravens, per The Athletic's Mike DeFabo.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that he "saw him (Watt) walking around comfortably, but he's questonable," and that he's "optimistic" about Watt's availability.
Watt is one of the premier pass rushers in the league, and he'll be needed to slow down Lamar Jackson and the Ravens' top-ranked offence on Saturday. In 14 games this season, the 30-year-old is tied for third in the NFL with 11.5 sacks while leading the league with six forced fumbles.
The former first-round pick has made six consecutive Pro Bowls and is a four-time All-Pro. In 2021, he recorded 22.5 sacks, tying the NFL single-season record on route to his only Defensive Player of the Year award.
In other Steelers injury news, star wide receiver George Pickens, who has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury, is questionable for Week 16 and his status will be determined by his participation levels in practice.
