The Houston Texans have officially ruled out rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud for Sunday's game at Tennessee due to his concussion.
According to the team on Saturday, Stroud did not travel with the team. This will be the first game he's missed.
The 22-year-old sustained an injury in a Week 14 loss to the Jets after a hit in the fourth quarter by Quinnen Williams. Davis Mills replaced Stroud during that game, but the Texans have yet to announce whether Mills or Case Keenum will start against the Titans.
Stroud was the seventh-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and has quickly emerged as a star quarterback in the league. He's thrown for 3,631 yards this season with 20 touchdown passes and just five interceptions.
Offensive tackle George Fant, dealing with a hip injury and an illness, did not travel with the team and has also been ruled out. Additionally, cornerback Steven Nelson, who has a wrist injury, was added to the injury report and is listed as questionable for Sunday.
