Sometimes sports just leave you speechless.
As was the case on Sunday when in their very first play back since Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field in Cincinnati, the Buffalo Bills returned the opening kickoff against the New England Patriots for a touchdown.
Chills.
Nyheim Hines returned the opening kickoff 96 yards to the house, and in an already rocking crowd at Highmark Stadium, the place erupted into cheers that could be heard across the country.
You couldn't have written a better script.
And maybe the best part of it all? Damar Hamlin is actively watching the game, tweeting a picture from his hospital bed six minutes before kickoff.
It's also safe to say that Hamlin was pleased with how his team started the game:
It has been an emotional week for the football world in general, and with Hamlin progressing positively, this play will go down in Bills' history as one of the great moments of their storied franchise.
The social media reaction around the sports world was also a testament to just how much love and support everyone has shown for Hamlin and his family, and just how important sports can be:
Bills quarterback Josh Allen showed emotion when discussing the kickoff return after the game, saying it is the most impactful play he has ever been a part of.
