The Washington Football Team activated starting quarterback Taylor Heinicke from the reserve/COVID list Thursday.

Heinicke has 10 starts since taking over for Ryan Fitzpatrick, who sustained a hip injury during the season opener, and has thrown for 2,931 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2021.

The 28-year-old Heinicke missed Tuesday's 27-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Garrett Gilbert completed 20 of 31 passes for 194 yards in relief.

Linebacker David Mayo and tight end Temarrick Hemingway have also cleared protocols.

Washington (6-8) has lost its last two games after winning four straight and is scheduled to visit the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
