Buccaneers become second fully vaccinated team in NFL

Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians told reporters Thursday that the organization’s players, coaches and staff are 100 per cent vaccinated, making them the second team in the NFL to achieve that feat after the Atlanta Falcons.

The NFL announced on Aug. 16 that the Falcons were the first club to reach 100 per cent vaccination among their players.

Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette, who had previously been a vaccine holdout, explained his decision to get the shots to reporters Thursday.

“I just prayed on it. … Just trying to be the best teammate I can be,” he said, per Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times.

According to The New York Times, the NFL has a vaccination rate of 93 per cent.
