Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni is expressing optimism that three top players can return from injury for next Monday’s wild-card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Canadian rookie safety Sydney Brown won’t be joining them on the field.
Sirianni told reporters Monday that Brown suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Sunday’s season finale against the New York Giants.
The third-round pick from London, Ont. appeared in 14 games this season and notched a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals.
Meanwhile, Sirianni said wide receiver A.J. Brown (knee), running back DeVonta Smith (ankle) and offensive lineman Cam Jurgens (eye) will be able to play against the Bucs.
Smith sat out the Week 18 game, while Brown and Jurgens exited with injuries.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger) also exited Sunday’s game with an injury and he has told people he is taking it “day-by-day.”
