Atlanta Falcons quarterback Taylor Heinicke will start this week in place of Desmond Ridder against the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced Tuesday.
In an updated depth chart, the Falcons listed Heinicke as their starting quarterback, and Ridder the backup quarterback.
This is the second time this season that Ridder has been benched for Heinicke.
The Falcons (6-8) have struggled with poor quarterback play all season, as they dropped their second game in a row against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday after a late-game interception by Ridder. In 13 games, Ridder has totalled 2,528 yards, 12 total touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Heinicke comes into the game on Sunday with 498 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in his three appearances for the Falcons this season, which were all losses.
