Giants WR Malik Nabers clears concussion protocol

The New York Giants are getting a big piece back just in time for a key divisional matchup.

Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has cleared the concussion protocol and is available to return to the Giants in time for their game Sunday against rival Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Friday.

According to the team, Nabers was evaluated and cleared by an independent neurological consultant.

The rookie star was hurt late in the Giants’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 26. He has missed the team’s last two games after not receiving clearance to return.

Prior to the Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday night, it was announced that the receiver hadn’t advanced to the next step in the protocol and wouldn’t be made available.

Despite missing the last two games, Nabers sits 14th in the league with 386 receiving yards this season. He also has three touchdowns in four games.

The LSU product was picked sixth overall by the Giants in this year’s NFL Draft.

The Giants are currently 2-4 and sit fourth in the NFC East.
